Quite often, our style clients will have already been to us for their colour analysis, and so have already built a relationship with their consultant. That said, there can still be a certain amount of trepidation; after all, you're putting your body into our hands. So this month, we wanted to take the time to explain what to expect from a Style Consultation with Colour Me Beautiful and to put your mind at ease, because these sessions are fun, informative and confidence-building.
You will be set a small amount of homework before you arrive for your session. You will be asked to bring a selection of your own clothes from your wardrobe; some that you love, and others that you don't (but may not necessarily know why).
When you arrive, your consultant will take the time to find out more about you. Of course, if you have had your colours assessed, there will already be a certain amount of familiarity. This time is important as it sets the scene for the rest of your session together. You'll be asked about your lifestyle and what you would like to achieve from your time together. You will then complete a short questionnaire to determine your Style Personality. This is important as your style has a personality, and your personality gives you your style. It enables your consultant to understand who you are.
Then you'll discuss your body shape and learn how to make the most of your good features, and how to take attention away from the features you don’t like. It is also important that you understand your proportions, so for example, the position of your waist. This will enable you to combine clothes that appear to adjust any imbalances and give the illusion of perfect proportions.
You will be shown your best styles of clothing, tailoring, what to look for in prints and how different fabric cuts work on your body shape. We will use the clothes that you've brought along so that you can put into practice what you have learnt throughout your Style Consultation.
We will talk about achieving the perfect fit and how to build a wardrobe of beautiful clothes that reflect your style personality.
Accessories are key to completing your look and a great way to introduce colour to your outfits, so we spend time discussing hats, scarves, footwear, jewellery and bags.
All of our advice will be tailored to your own style personality, lifestyle and of course budget (although we never recommend throwing everything away and starting again; rather, we show you how to work with what you already have and add to your wardrobe gradually).
In summary we will show you how to:
- select the most flattering styles and fabrics for your body shape
- emphasise what you like about your body and disguise what you don't
- achieve a perfect fit every time when buying clothes
- express your personality through your wardrobe
- avoid shopping disasters
- develop a coordinated wardrobe so you get maximum usage from it
- dress with confidence, whatever the occasion
- reduce time and frustration looking for the perfect outfit
There is a lot to take in, but the good news is, that you don't need to remember everything, as we writie it all down in your personal style guide. This is a detailed record of your visit and a guide that you can use straight away and for many years to come.
Our sessions instil confidence, help you make the most of your figure, build a fabulous wardrobe of outfits and enable you to shop successfully in the future.
