Our skin is the largest organ in the body and is one of the most hardworking. It provides a barrier against infection and protects our bodies from harmful elements. So it goes without saying that good skincare is vital to keep it healthy and able to do its job.
Adopting a proper routine for your face will reap rewards. Not only will it help your skin remain in tip-top condition, it will also provide you with a good base to apply your make-up.
2018 was all about product development for us. We had a vision of providing a skincare range that fulfilled a rigid criteria without costing the earth. First and foremost, the range had to be organic because we promote natural beauty. No nasties in our products thank you very much.
Secondly, it had to be vegan. Why? Well, we don’t advocate or support animal cruelty behind the scenes. And we certainly didn’t want to use lanolin, a common ingredient found in many products. This is derived from animals and can clog pores, causing acne and breakouts. Going down the vegan route meant that we could avoid all of those bad ingredients.
Parabens are a no-no, they are used to extend the shelf life of products but have been shown to penetrate the skin and disrupt hormone function (scary stuff). It goes without saying that we will not entertain parabens in any of our products.
And then there was the little matter of infusing each product with carefully chosen essential oils such as Bergamot from the Bergamot Orange which has antiseptic qualities, perfect for our Balancing Cream Cleanser. Of course one of the benefits of essential oils is their wonderful aroma which eliminates the need for artificial fragrances. It’s a win-win as far as we are concerned.
The whole range had to be made in the UK. Ever conscious about our carbon footprint, we are constantly striving to manufacture locally wherever we can.
Finally, we were keen to explore the possibility of producing recyclable packaging.
Hmmm. We don’t make things easy for ourselves, do we?
So we sent our CEO, Cliff Bashforth off in search of skincare that would bowl us over. And he came up trumps, on every level. Not without blood, sweat and tears we hasten to add, particularly over the colour of his hair net which he requested in periwinkle blue (apparently out of stock!).
We were delighted to introduce our new range to you last year, one that fulfils everything that we dreamed of; organic, vegan-friendly, paraben and lanolin free, packed with essential oils in recyclable packaging at a reasonable price. And the reaction has been absolutely phenomenal, you love it as much as we do.
Helen Morton (find yours here) can show you which products will work for your own skin or you can find out more here.
We’ve sent Cliff back to the labs to develop more products this year. Watch this space!
